End of Life Care

Providing high-quality, specialised care that is fully customised to your unique needs.

At Lauriem, we understand how difficult it can be to cope with a life-limiting illness or condition.

End of Life Care (also known as palliative care) provides treatment and manages pain and other physical symptoms resulting from a terminal and/or complex illness.

With a complex and terminal illness, symptoms may need to be controlled and managed where possible. We are usually asked to become involved at an early stage to help with medication and practical help, sometimes also helping with getting out and about, while health still permits this or to live life well in the home. This is a very emotional time for all involved and we understand that. That’s why we spend extra time getting to know you and your loved ones.

Why choose End of Life Care

Comfort and Familiarity of Home

Being in a familiar environment during end-of-life care offers significant emotional comfort. Surrounded by personal belongings, pets, family, and memories, individuals often feel more at ease, which can help reduce anxiety and distress in their final days.

Personalised, One-to-One Support

End-of-life care at home ensures dedicated, tailored care that focuses solely on the individual’s needs and wishes. Unlike shared settings, carers provide uninterrupted support, helping to manage symptoms, pain, and emotional well-being with compassion and dignity.

Greater Privacy and Dignity

Home care allows individuals to pass away in a private, peaceful setting, rather than in a communal or clinical space. This enhances dignity and allows for more intimate moments with loved ones without the interruptions often found in care homes or hospitals.

Time with Family and Loved Ones

Home-based care makes it easier for family and friends to spend meaningful time together without strict visiting hours. Loved ones can be present, involved, and supported throughout the process, creating a more personal and connected experience.

Emotional and Practical Support for Families

Specialist end-of-life carers not only care for the individual but also support family members—offering guidance, reassurance, and respite. This holistic approach helps families feel more in control and less alone during a deeply emotional time.

Emotional and Practical Support for Families

End-of-life care at home respects the person’s values, preferences, cultural or religious practices, and choices about how they wish to spend their remaining time. This level of personalisation is harder to achieve in institutional settings.

More information and FAQs

End-of-life care at home provides compassionate, specialist support for individuals in the final stages of life. It focuses on comfort, dignity, pain management, and emotional well-being, allowing people to spend their remaining time in a familiar and peaceful environment.

End-of-life care is delivered by trained carers and may also involve support from district nurses, palliative care teams, and GPs. Our carers are experienced in managing physical symptoms, offering emotional support, and ensuring comfort around the clock.

Support includes personal care (such as washing and dressing), medication management, symptom relief, emotional support, and help with mobility or positioning. Carers also provide companionship and practical help for the family, ensuring a calm, respectful environment.

We understand the urgency of end-of-life care and aim to put support in place as quickly as possible – often within 24 to 48 hours. Our team will assess your needs promptly and create a care plan tailored to your wishes and circumstances.

Our carers provide reassurance, practical help, and emotional support to family members during a difficult time. We aim to reduce the pressure on loved ones, allowing them to focus on being present and saying goodbye in a meaningful, peaceful way.

Care stories

From the first visit of my first carer, I knew I had made the right decision to use this company. My care plan was totally adhered to and the service provided was excellent, the prices charged were great value and all the staff who attended to me were kind and supportive. My dignity was maintained throughout and I was given great encouragement at all times. I highly recommend Lauriem to anyone looking for a professional personal care team.

Mr. AG (Service User)

I just want to say a massive thank you to the Lauriem carers who looked after my nan in her final weeks. They were amazing, they treated my nan with such dignity and grace, and they were gentle and kind with her but also with us, the family. Thank you for everything, you made the whole situation so much better for all of us. And thank you for taking the time to chat with me, for reassuring me and supporting me in the most horrific of times.

Mrs. Lisa M (Granddaughter of Service User)

All the carers are very friendly and professional, they look after all Mum's needs in every way, Mum always looks forward to seeing them and having a chat. They always keep me posted if there is a problem or a change in any way. Mum and I always appreciate your hard work and dedication. Thank you all so very much.

Miss. Vanessa T (Daughter of Service User)
